Demand Modeler Position – Heinz North America
Purpose: To continuously update and maintain the Manugistics technical model to enhance the decision-support capabilities of the tool. Provide training and technical support to Demand Planners. Serve as the project liaison between Supply Chain teams, IT and Demand Planning.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES – List the activities you perform on a regular basis. Identify the major end result your position is expected to achieve for each of these activities.
KEY FUNCTIONS PERFORMED:
· Lead, identify, and implement continuous improvement initiatives of Demand Planning process within the Manugistics tool.
· Develop and maintain Demand Planning Manugistics training plan including a course outline, handbooks, and references for new planners and “refresher” training/material for all planners
· Monitors process and exception reports to ensure Demand Planner’s conformance and adherence in Manugistics and report back to Demand Planning management.
· Diagnose, correct and test technical problems with the DP model. These technical problems include data, application, reporting or upgrade issues that may occur
· Working in conjunction with the Demand Planners, assist in the diagnosis and resolution of logic or business rule problems within the DP model itself
· Work with the Demand Planners to enhance the decision support capabilities of the tool
· Work with IT to diagnose and correct and test integration and/or data issues that may occur
· Act as a primary point of contact with JDA and Heinz IT with respect to technical items and issues concerning the DP application
· Work with JDA to explore new uses of Manugistics tool and promote these uses to IT and Demand planning team
BUSINESS RESULTS
· A fully functioning demand planning application
· Maintenance of the demand planning model
· A continuous improvement program to drive better decision-support functionality
· Troubleshooting of technical issues with Demand Planning
· Documentation of changes and upgrades made to the system or model

KNOWLEDGE
· Minimum requirement is a relevant Bachelor’s degree (Logistics, Industrial engineering, System Engineering, Mathematics or Computer science/engineering).
· MBA or MSc would be ideal
· Expertise in Manugistics Demand, Fulfillment, and Strategy modules
· Understanding of advanced demand planning concepts, business drivers, organization structures and key metrics
· Ability to translate business requirements into model constraints and parameters
· Experience in analytical project work and business analysis
SKILLS
· Technical ability to troubleshoot and correct software application issues.
· Programming experience (or at least complex database query creation experience) preferred
· Expert knowledge of statistical modeling and software applications
· Must be able to present results of analysis upward and translate direction from management in various business functions into Manugistics parameters
· Ability to develop training materials and provide continuous “on the job”
· Ability to work with little supervision and handle multiple high priorities similultaneously
· Ability to translate business requirements into model constraints and parameters
· Strong written and verbal communication skills

EXPERIENCE
· 5-6 years of Supply Chain modeling and programming experience
· Detailed understanding of Demand and Supply Planning process and objectives
· Experience in analytical project work and project management
· Detailed understanding of the objectives of the advanced forecasting and planning functions
